Walstead Group is a leading commercial printing company with operations in the UK, Spain and Central Europe. In June 2016, Walstead secured a £33m investment from Rutland Partners to support its acquisition of Austria’s largest printing group, Let’s Print Holding A.G. The transaction had an overall enterprise value of €175m.
Following this transformational deal, Walstead has pro-forma annual revenues of c.€480m and employs 2,300 staff operating across 13 production facilities in five countries. Annually, it processes over 600,000 tonnes of paper to produce promotional flyers, leaflets, catalogues, magazines and newspaper supplements.
Walstead required an experienced NED to complement its existing Board structure and support the company’s growth plans. They engaged Directorbank who sourced Ron Marsh for the role.
Already known to Simon Thomas of Directorbank, Ron is a hugely experienced and respected figure in manufacturing with an exceptional track record of growth, both organically and via M&A. As CEO of RPC Group plc, he took the business from a £50m turnover Cinven-backed MBO in 1991 to a £1bn turnover FTSE 250 company with 50 manufacturing sites in 15 countries and more than 7,000 employees. Ron is currently the Chairman of Polypipe plc and an NED at EQT-backed Faerch Plast Group A/S in Denmark, and a former NED of BPI Group plc.
