TTC Group provides national speed awareness courses as well as a full suite of other driver training, compliance and education courses across the UK.

The company currently employs 123 staff and handles over 350,000 clients annually across its 200 training venues in the UK. The business currently generates c.£27.5m in revenue and c.£3m EBITDA.

Following the MBO with backing from Palatine Private Equity in July 2017, TTC Group took the opportunity to re-shape and develop the Board. Richard Boothroyd has recently been hired as Finance Director and Mark Dawson as the IT Director.

Brief & process

To help position the business for further growth, Directorbank’s Simon Thomas was approached to source a Commercial Director to further augment and complement the Management Team structure.

The ideal profile was a Sales & Marketing Director in a Business Services capacity with experience of managing a wide-ranging client base in both public and private sectors.

He/she would have a track record of success in a growth environment where only first time quality and on time delivery are acceptable.

In total more than 80 individuals were identified for the role through a combination of focused mapping, headhunting, networking and database assessment. Eight candidates were interviewed at longlist stage and six candidates were shortlisted for client review.


Jeremy Garnett was appointed to the position in April 2018.

Jeremy spent his formative career at Yellow Pages progressing to a Regional Sales Director role. He left to pursue a role at Canon before joining ECI-backed Citation in 2014, a provider of HR and employment law, health & safety and ISO certification solutions to SME businesses.

During his time at Citation as Head of Sales he helped to double revenues and played an instrumental part in the successful sale of the business to HgCapital.
