Incubated by Bridges Fund Management from 2013, The Vet is a veterinary services provider offering affordable, high quality and accessible care to pet-owners across the UK.
With a clear growth plan for the business, Antony Ross – Partner at Bridges – approached Directorbank’s Lewis Buckley to source a proven Executive Chairman to define, implement and drive a new strategic direction for the business with the aim of growing the customer base across multiple sites.
The role required a customer-focused healthcare specialist with experience of working with growth, multi-site businesses. A track record in private equity as well as expertise in repositioning companies to augment brand image and growth was preferential.
After an accelerated search process, due to the strength of our network in this sector, a shortlist of strong candidates was provided to both Antony Ross and Daniel Knight from Bridges. Following the client interview stage, Chris Jessop was ultimately offered the position.
Chris is a hugely experienced Chairman and CEO with a rich career in the healthcare services sector. He is currently Chairman at ABL Health and Viavi, and a NED at Ascenti Health.
His past executive roles include divisional Managing Director of AXA PPP Healthcare, divisional Managing Director of BUPA Wellness, and CEO of Nuffield Health Wellbeing, a £165m revenue consumer and corporate health and fitness business. Whilst at the latter Chris led the acquisition of Cannons and implemented a successful repositioning as a broader consumer wellbeing proposition.
With clinical insight, and an entrepreneurial mind-set, Chris has also shaped and grown a number of PE-backed businesses, consistently generating shareholder returns. He also founded a successful international health management business and acts as a business advisor.
