The company was recently presented with the ‘Growth Management Team’ award at the prestigious BVCA Management Team Awards following a strong year of growth and in recognition of the quality of service delivery and level of innovation the company brings to the children’s care market.
Brief & process
With ambitious growth plans, Horizon required an Interim Operations Director to further strengthen its Executive Team. The ideal candidate required experience in the health or social care sector, proven success in driving operational efficiencies and excellence in service quality, and a track record of delivering development and growth.
The Horizon Care & Education team, Paul Callander (CEO) and Sarah Humphreys (Director of HR & OD), faced a difficult task in finding a strong candidate with the desired skill set and credibility, especially given the timescales. Directorbank’s network quickly yielded a stand-out individual that performed soundly at each stage of Horizon’s meticulous interview process and Liz Moran was successfully appointed to the role. Horizon and Directorbank then worked together to ensure Liz entered the business fully informed and equipped to take the reins in order to make a quick impact.
Liz has a wealth of experience in health and social care. Starting her career as a Nurse, she then rose through the ranks at Barchester Healthcare, a leading provider of residential and nursing care including, within its portfolio, complex care and mental health care provision for younger adults. Here she held several operational roles culminating in Divisional Director responsible for 48 Registered Care Homes and 4 Domiciliary Care Agencies within Assisted Living Properties.
Until recently Liz was Operations Director at HC One, Britain’s third largest care home operator specialising in dementia, nursing, residential and specialist care. Initially a turnaround and improvement position, she took direct operational and regulatory responsibility for 16 homes and all were profitable with strong staff retention rates within 12 months of her appointment. Her portfolio then increased to include 32 Registered Care Homes across the NW, SW and Wales.
