Gresham Technologies is a leading software and services company that specialises in providing solutions for data integrity and control, banking integration, payments and cash management. Listed on the main market of the London Stock Exchange, its customers include some of the largest financial institutions, all of whom are served locally from offices in Europe, North America and Asia Pacific.
Imogen Joss, Gresham’s SID and NomCom Chair, approached Directorbank to source a Chair to replace Ken Archer who is retiring in October 2020. The Brief was to source a candidate with extensive and up-to-date FinTech, Enterprise Software or SaaS experience and commercial/marketing skills in one or more of Gresham’s key international markets (with an emphasis on expansion in North America) and who possesses excellent strategic insight as to how international markets for such products or services are evolving.
Led by Simon Thomas, Directorbank commenced the search in early April 2020 whilst the country was in complete lockdown. With support from fellow Director Graham Jones and Researcher Maire McKay more than 70 candidates were identified through fresh candidate mapping, targeted referrals and analysis of Directorbank’s proprietary network. Of these, more than 30 individuals were approached and seven were assessed further and interviewed for suitability. Ultimately, Directorbank presented four strong candidates to the Gresham team for client interview and Peter Simmonds was selected for the role.
Peter was CEO of AIM-listed dotdigital Group plc for eight years and a major contributor to dotdigital’s success. Following his retirement in June 2015, he stepped into the role of Non-Executive Director.
Peter commenced his career in 1976 as a trainee accountant with Unilever plc and has gained over 35 years of experience at senior management and Board level, principally in the areas of software, banking, insurance, finance and outsourcing. He has considerable business entrepreneurial experience having been involved at start up or early stage in a number of companies in various industry sectors including consultancy services, computer software and internet solutions. Peter also has experience of business acquisition and post-acquisition integration.
