CONVERGENCE GROUP

Company overview

Founded in 2004 by Neal Harrison and based in Solihull, Convergence Group designs scalable, cost effective, integrated network access solutions, both nationally and internationally. An industry disruptor, it aims to change the world of telecoms and network infrastructure for the better, giving its clients fast and reliable connectivity in a fairer and more flexible way.

Brief

After many years of sustained growth, Neal plans to move into a non-executive shareholding role and so approached Directorbank’s tech specialist, James Searby, to appoint a high calibre successor to lead, manage and direct the Senior Management Team through the next stage of the company’s growth journey.

The brief called for a highly experienced, progressive executive from the telecoms and infrastructure industry with a strong focus on organic growth and a proven track record of successfully managing high growth businesses. Operationally-savvy and results-driven, they would have led all parts of a business through the next cycle.

Outcome

James underwent a thorough search process encompassing network referrals and mapping of the candidate landscape. Ultimately Danny Masters – the ideal candidate in terms of both background and cultural fit – accepted the position.

Danny is well regarded in the industry with extensive experience of delivering strategic change, revenue growth and profit improvement in tech and SaaS environments. He brings strong leadership, commercial and strategic skills and excellent sector knowledge to the role. He also brings a track record in managed outsourcing of networks and leading successful commercial relationships.

He joins Convergence Group from Claranet, one of Europe’s leading managed service providers, where was Director of Network Services with full P&L accountability as both Sales Director and Commercial Director.

Upon Danny’s appointment, Neal Harrison has assumed the role of Chairman to the Board.
