Headquartered in Crawley with a sourcing office in China, Chemigraphic is a design-led Electronic Manufacturing Services provider working with a wide range of specialist UK and global technology brands, from conception to production, supporting them at every stage of their product lifecycle.
CEO Chris Wootton joined the business in April 2017 and led a secondary MBO in July 2019 with backing from NVM Private Equity. With a strong track record of creating value for his shareholders, Chris has a clear vision to scale Chemigraphic globally and has forecasted annual growth of 10% over the period of the plan.
With the forthcoming launch of a China operation, Chris made the timely decision to recruit a sector-experienced COO to support and accelerate the growth plan and take responsibility for the following areas:
1) Drive growth through excellent Customer Service
2) Improve profitability by implementing ‘world class’ lean processes
3) Develop Operations team with progression options as they scale
4) Embed new ERP on the global platform
5) Production Ramp new facility in China
As a retained search, Directorbank’s Simon Thomas was able to seek recommendations from his network of Industrial Chairs and CEOs. With additional support from researcher Tom Warrack, a focused process identified 45 suitable candidates. After assessment, eight candidates were interviewed by Directorbank of which five individuals were presented to Chris and the Chemigraphic team.
Mark Aitken was quickly identified as the preferred candidate and was offered the role. Formerly at Ultra Electronics plc, a specialist electronics engineering company, Mark brings deep Operations and Supply Chain experience and an excellent track record in driving growth, development and customer satisfaction.
During the recruitment process a second position was also identified when Chris met candidate Gary Allen. Gary has a wealth of sector-relevant commercial experience from his time at TT Electronics (as European MD) and Plexus (as EMEA Business Development Director). He and Chris openly discussed the growth potential of Chemigraphic which highlighted an opportunity to upgrade the company’s commercial, go-to-market offering. Gary was offered the role of Chief Customer Officer to execute this vision.
