Alliance Pharma plc is an AIM-listed international healthcare group. Headquartered in Chippenham with subsidiaries across Europe, North America and Asia Pacific, as well as a wide international network of distributors, the business generates revenues in excess of £160m.

With a core focus on the marketing of Consumer Healthcare brands, they hold marketing rights to around 80 brands with revenues being generated from a mix of direct, distributor and e-commerce sales.

The brief

To maximise the value and reach of their brands, the business has a strong appetite for international expansion through a strategy of carefully selected acquisitions and organic growth.

In support of this, and to complement the skills and experience of the existing Board, Directorbank was appointed to source a Non-Executive Director.

The ideal candidate would be a senior executive from a listed business with extensive knowledge and experience in the marketing of consumer healthcare products, particularly across Europe, the US and APAC. Excellent commercial credentials and good strategic capabilities would also be required in helping the Client business formulate their future vision and growth plans.

Search process and result

After a thorough and efficient search process focusing on candidates with truly international experience, Kristof Neirynck was appointed to the Alliance Pharma Board.

Kristof brings almost 20 years of international consumer brand experience including complex omni-channel business models, direct-to-consumer strategies and cross border e-commerce.

He is currently the Global CMO of Avon Cosmetics, a $5bn beauty business, and before that held the position of Group VP and Chief Marketing Officer for the Global Brands division of Walgreens-Boots-Alliance, the global retail pharmacy giant, with responsibility for a $4bn sales portfolio of more than 20 of their owned brands across consumer healthcare and beauty.
