Innovative conference will help Scottish directors find non-executive positions

August 2007

Directorbank and the University of Edinburgh Management School are holding a one day conference to help Scottish directors hone their skills for non executive positions.

The Increasing your Marketability event, aimed at directors looking for their first non-executive director position and those looking to extend their portfolio, will be held on Friday, 7 September at the School’s Bristo Square campus.

As a market leader in finding non-executives for private equity deals and major corporates, Directorbank has in-depth knowledge of the qualities and experience sought by today’s companies.

Kareen Rodger, who leads Directorbank’s practice in Scotland, said: "The non-executive market is becoming far more sophisticated. This one day conference will enable very senior directors to sharpen their skills in finding new positions as well as update their legal knowledge on the risks and responsibilities."

"Also, increasingly many employers see a non-executive role as part of general career development for their young stars. Quite a few are concerned about getting directors to understand corporate governance issues before they go onto the main board – and an effective way of achieving this and broadening their skill set is for them to be appointed to an external board."
