We are great fans of the Directorbank model, both as a superior business origination tool in a highly competitive market and as an excellent means of recruiting top level executives and NEDs. |

Directorbank was initially set up to serve the venture capital industry. Our remit was to search the UK for the highest performing directors who would be interested in, and available to join, the boards of businesses funded with private equity. Over time our network has developed into a valuable community of dealmakers and industry experts whose contribution to the private equity houses they work with, and the corporate bodies they take positions with, creates value for the shareholders.
The private equity industry is now indirectly responsible for the employment of 2.7 million people in the UK alone. The hunger for deal flow is insatiable and Directorbank works with over 50 private equity clients who have online access to our candidate information in order to carry out constant research and have immediate access to the best directors when putting a deal together.
At any one time we have around 10,000 directors on our books – but only 2,500 of these will meet our tough selection criteria. The typical candidate profile is:
- main board director of a listed company or private company with a turnover greater than £10m
- CEO, Managing Director, Finance Director or Chairman experience
- significant track record of achievement
Increasingly, PLCs have been asking us to find and appoint non-executive directors. In response, we set up our corporate division to focus on this market, and it is now the UK’s fastest growing recruiter of PLC non-executives.
